<description>All of us resist change. If we didn’t, we’d be a telemarketer’s dream. We’d sign up for everything.

Having spent much of my professional career working with resistance to change, I have learned that resistance is often a good thing. People usually have good – even great – reasons for resisting. Sometimes people resist because the proposed change is a bad idea in their eyes. Things that might cause personal loss is another reason. Loss of power, for instance, is a fine reason to oppose something new. Who wants to give up power?

We tend to resist change that is foisted upon us. However, if we are part of the planning, there is a greater and opportunity for us to find ways to support the change without giving away the ranch. .
