I agree, RSS, or whatever's next for that 'type' of push/syndicated content delivery is a potential killer app for e-publishing - I reckon, though, that whatever gets pushed out should be seamlessly integrated into a constantly changing 'single text' a lawyer refers to, with the latest updates flagged for attention and bookmarked, in some way. It's like the web, just with books...

I don't think Kindle is the killer client though - too small. http://tinyurl.com/cbdmc3

Nice blog, btw.

Jordan - RSS for ebook updates is a great idea and so obvious. Unfortunately in the UK Legal Publishers have been quite slow to implement RSS. This is a real shame because it is such a powerful tool.

One issue that comes to mind is that of subscriptions to the databases where the legislation or cases are updated. If you were to buy an ebook which was updated by RSS but you didn't subscribe to the database where the legal publisher updated the case/piece of legislation - would you miss out?

Maybe the killer app will be the beta API that links citations to CanLII's reflex records. Image linking from a text on an ebook to see the noteup record as of today... without paying a fee.
