Great post. The great attraction to these outfits I think will come from the lawyers themselves who are wanting to be freed from the tight grip of the traditional law firm.

Interesting article – I’ve been following this trend as well, and I think it offers more value for clients. I recently joined The General Counsel, LLC, a California-based group of experienced in-house attorneys which follows the same model.

Carolyn, I agree – very interesting. I’ve watched the development of these hybrid models over the last few years and thought a lot about what impact it will have on traditional firms. I had not heard of the Lawyer on Demand group prior to your post. I like the idea of offering my clients both options rather than having to choose between old/new style firms.
